Strong Authentication for Logging into TimeEdit
Following the Vice-Chancellor’s decision STYR 2024/3215, which has been developed as part of the regulatory framework concerning the NIS2 Directive and the Cybersecurity Act, IT services at Lund University require the use of strong authentication (Multi- Factor Authentication, Freja+ Id).
For TimeEdit, this means that all logins to the system—whether to Core (the advanced tool for scheduling and timetabling), Viewer (the timetable viewer), or Reserve (the self-service interface)—will require strong authentication.
The date for the implementation of strong authentication for TimeEdit is set to 1 October 2025.
After 1 October 2025, you will not be able to log in to TimeEdit unless you have configured strong authentication. We therefore recommend that you register your Freja+ eID as soon as possible, if you have not already done so.
Strong authentication is a way to protect and verify your digital identity during login, similar to Bank-ID. This means you will now need to use at least two components to prove your identity—for example, your LU account along with an electronic identification service such as Freja+ eID on your mobile and/or work phone.
You can find instructions on how to get started with strong authentication here:

TimeEdit currently offers several pages for viewing timetables and room reservations that do not require login with an LU account. Due to the current global security situation, these entry points will also require login in the future. There are several user groups without LU accounts (e.g., prospective students, participants in commissioned education, and employees from Region Skåne) who need access to timetables and reservation of rooms and equipment at Lund University. The TimeEdit administration is currently working on a viable solution for these user groups.
The requirement for strong authentication applies only to employees at Lund University.
Students are not affected by this requirement.
